Lois Haggins of Lumberton was born on October 11,1950, to the late Howard and Annie Mae Lowery, she departed this life on February 25, 2026, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 Years, Harvey Haggins and parents, Howard Lowery and Annie Mae Lowery, a daughter, Tabitha Haggins, a son, Harvey Haggins Jr., a brother Linwood Cummings and a sister, Annie Rea Hassel.
Lois is survived by two sons, Bobby Haggins, and Austin Hunt (Courtney), three daughters, Judy Haggins Oxendine (Jimmy), Charity Haggins Oxendine (Trent), and Kelsey Hunt, five grandchildren, Alexis Haggins, Jeremie Locklear, Chandler Bell, Chloe Bell, and Olivia Oxendine, nine great-grandchildren; Paxton McCartney, Peyton McCartney, Aeshan Hunt, Aiden Hunt, Acelyn Hunt, Axel Hunt, Noah Locklear, Ni'Ava Locklear, and Eli Locklear, a sister, Linda Jones, a special niece, Connie Locklear (Wendell) and two special friends, Joan Bell and Sue Carter, and her puppy; "Little PeeWee". She leaves to cherish her memory a host of loving family and friends.
Lois was a woman of strength, dedication, and unwavering love for her family and community. For over 30 years, she faithfully served as a nursing assistant, caring for countless patients with compassion, patience, and dignity. She treated everyone as if they were family, and her gentle spirit left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of being in her care. At home and in her neighborhood, she was known simply as "Ma." The neighborhood children adored her, and she welcomed them with open arms, warm smiles, and a warm meal. Her home was a place of comfort and laughter. She was dedicated to everything she did- whether it was work, raising children, helping neighbors, or simply sitting on the porch enjoying life. She lived happily, even enjoying her chewing tobacco, a small habit that was just part of her daily routine.
Above all, she was a devoted mother whose love knew no limits. Her strength, wisdom, and presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered. She leaves behind a legacy of care, kindness, and commitment that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who called her 'Ma."
